Fernando Silva

Affiliations: Works at the DPO Cabinet of Banco de Portugal and Professor of Privacy and as professor of Privacy and Cybersecurity (ECPC) within the Maastricht University Faculty of Law.

Short Bio: Fernando Silva is a Professor of Privacy, Cybersecurity at the European Centre on Privacy and Cybersecurity (ECPC) within the Maastricht University Faculty of Law. Works at Banco de Portugal at the DPO Cabinet.

Prior to this position, Fernando Worked for 17 years at the Portuguese Data Protection Authority, carrying data protection compliance audits internally and at European level. In 2012 as Technical Advisor to the DPO at Eurojust and as DPO of eu-LISA until end of 2018.

Fernando worked in the past in the areas of healthcare data security, analyst and developer of information systems and networks. Holds several certifications on ISO 27001, 22301 and 27005 along with GIAC SANS on Auditing Systems and Networks, CIPM IAPP and Certified DPO by EIPA
